Google business pages- what are they and why you might want to delete one
Google business pages are created when a business owner or managerclaims and verify their business on Google Maps. These pages provide customers with important information about the business, such as the address, phone number, hours of operation, and website. Customers can also leave reviews on these pages.
However, there are some situations in which a business owner or manager might want to delete their Google business page. For example, if the business has permanently closed, or if multiple pages have been created for the same business and they want to consolidate them.
If you’re a business owner or manager who wants to delete their Google business page, follow the steps below.
How to delete your Google business page- step by step guide
If you’re no longer using your Google My Business (GMB) listing, you may be wondering how to delete it. This step-by-step guide will show you how to delete your GMB listing, step by step.
Before we get started, it’s important to note that once you delete your GMB listing, it cannot be recovered. So, if you think you may want to use your GMB listing in the future, we recommend simply suspending it instead of deleting it.
That said, let’s get started!
Step 1: Log in to Google My Business
In order to delete your GMB listing, you first need to log in to the platform. You can do this by going to google.com/business and clicking on the “Log In” button in the top right-hand corner.
Step 2: Find and click on your business listing
Once you’re logged in, take a look at the dashboard. Here, you should see a list of all of the business listings that are associated with your account. Find the listing that you want to delete and click on it.
Step 3: Click on the “Info” tab
Next, find and click on the “Info” tab. This tab is located towards the top of the page, just under the name and address of your business. After clicking on the “Info” tab, scroll down until you see a section labeled “Additional information.”
Step 4: Scroll down to “Delete this business” Underneath the “Additional information” section, you should see a link that says “Delete this business.” Click on this link.
What happens when you delete your Google business page
When you delete your Google business page, it is permanently removed from the web and can no longer be recovered. All of the information and data associated with your page, including reviews, photos, and posts, will be permanently deleted.
How to back up your data before deleting your Google business page
Deleting your Google business page is a permanent action. Once you delete your page, you will not be able to recover any of the data associated with it. Before you delete your page, we recommend that you take the following steps to back up your data:
1. Download a copy of your reviews: To download a copy of all the reviews that have been left for your business, go to Google My Business and sign in. Click on the “Reviews” tab, and then click on the “More actions” drop-down menu. Select “Download reviews” from the menu.
2. Download a copy of your photos: To download all the photos that have been added to your business page, go to Google My Business and sign in. Click on the “Photos” tab, and then click on the “More actions” drop-down menu. Select “Download photos” from the menu.
3. Download a copy of your posts: To download a copy of all the posts that have been published to your business page, go to Google My Business and sign in. Click on the “Posts” tab, and then click on the “More actions” drop-down menu. Select “Download posts” from the menu
How to transfer your Google business page to another owner
If you’re the owner of a Google My Business page, you can transfer ownership to another individual. This can be helpful if you’re leaving a company, or if you need to give someone else control of your listing.
To do this, sign in to Google My Business, and then select the listing that you’d like to transfer. Click on the Settings icon, and then choose “Info.” Under “Page Ownership,” click “Transfer ownership.”
Enter the email address of the new owner, and then click “Transfer.” The new owner will then need to accept the transfer before they gain control of the listing.
How to unpublish your Google business page
If you own or manage a Google My Business page and no longer want it to appear on Google, you can unpublish it. Once your page is unpublished, it will no longer appear in search results on Google.com or Maps.
To unpublish your page:
1. Sign in to Google My Business and choose the page you’d like to unpublish.
2. Click Info from the menu.
3. Scroll down to the bottom of the page, then click “Unpublish.”
4. In the window that appears, click “Unpublish” again to confirm that you’d like to unpublish your business page.

Alternatives to deleting your Google business page
When you delete your Google business page, you lose all reviews, photos, and posts associated with that page. You also lose your Google Maps ranking and your connection to potential customers who use Google to find businesses like yours.
Instead of deleting your page, there are a few alternatives that may better suit your needs:
-Change your business name, address, or phone number: If you need to update your business information, you can do so without deleting your page. Simply sign in to Google My Business and make the changes you need.
-Make your page unavailable to customers: If you need to take a break from running your business, you can make your page unavailable to customers without deleting it. To do this, sign in to Google My Business and click Info from the menu. Then, next to “Public status,” click the Down arrow and select “Closed.”
-Remove yourself as the owner of a page: If you’re no longer the owner of a business but still have access to the Google My Business page, you can remove yourself as the owner. Keep in mind that when you remove yourself as the owner, someone else will need to claim ownership of the page before they can manage it.
How to contact Google support about deleting your business page

What to do if you can’t delete your Google business page
If you’re the owner or manager of a Google My Business page, you can delete it at any time. However, if you don’t see the option to delete your page, it’s likely because:
-You’re not signed in to the account that manages the page
-There’s more than one owner or manager for the page, and someone else needs to delete it
-Your business has been verified by USPS, and only a local postmaster can delete the page
-Your business is claimed by a Google Partner
